Tea Party Tells Businesses Not to Hire Workers

Posted On Monday, October 24, 2011 By Editor. Under Economics, Labor, Original Context, Politics & Policy  Tags: Jobs, Melissa Brookstone, Tea Party

They love America so much, and the American people so much, that they want mass unemployment to continue. They care about people so much that they want material suffering to continue. They want to choke the system, and they don’t care how many children go hungry in furtherance of their political goals.

From MediaMatters:

…leading tea party group Tea Party Nation sent a message to its members calling “for a strike of American small businesses against the movement for global socialism.”
…On the heels of this initiative to pressure companies not to hire employees, Fox [News] is complaining about a company trying to help unemployed Americans find jobs.

Right Wing Watch chimes in:

Tea Party Nation sent to their members [on October 18] a message from activist Melissa Brookstone urging businesspeople to “not hire a single person” to protest the Obama administration’s supposed “war against business and my country.” Brookstone writes that business owners should stop hiring new employees in order to stand up to “this new dictator,” the “global Progressive socialist movement,” Hollywood, the media and Occupy Wall Street.

Brookstone wrote:

I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.

Melissa Brookstone is a piece of work indeed. She cries like a baby when she is criticized in the media or by other activists. She believes that government initiatives to (a) encourage private businesses to hire workers and (b) makes efforts to provide information coordinating hiring needs with employment needs, both constitute “socialism.”

Best of all, Brookstone is the owner of a legal process serving agency, Colorado Process Servers. No doubt, if she succeeds in her effort to keep unemployment high, she’ll personally benefit from bankruptsy filings, collection lawsuits, and other legal problems stemming from mass unemployment.

Brookstone’s Colorado Process Servers could probably use an encouraging word. I’m sure they’d love to hear about what a good idea their owner has for building the economy. If one was so inclined, one could call them at (800) 691-6219 or email them at melissa@coloradoprocessservers.net

At any rate, the time is long past that anyone should believe the Tea Partiers represent anything resembling the “American mainstream” or the interests of “working people,” but this latest attempt to cut off the nose of the working class to spite the face of the Obama administration is the functional equivalent of calling for violence against other human beings. It should be treated accordingly. The Tea Party doesn’t want to save the American economy–they want to take it down, and you and your children with it.
